CCBC Choices is an annual best-of-the-year bibliography from the Cooperative Children's Book Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. CCBC librarians select recommended books from the thousands of new titles received at the center for professional examination during the preceding year. The bibliography ranges across fiction, nonfiction, poetry, folklore, and picture books. Instead of ranking the books, it arranges them in subject and audience sections, and many entries include a concise annotation from the CCBC. The year in a CCBC Choices title identifies that annual bibliography; the books were generally examined during the preceding publishing year. For parents, the sections make a large edition easier to approach. Begin with a subject a child already likes, read the CCBC note, and compare the formats and subjects within that section. Looking across more than one year can surface books that no longer appear on front tables but remain readily available through libraries.
