Loretta Little Looks Back: Three Voices Go Tell It

Three members of the fictional Little family recount their lives across generations in the Jim Crow South. In 1927, Loretta sees a white landlord demean her sharecropper father and helps take in an abandoned baby, Roly. As a teenager, Roly describes white men poisoning his family’s farm animals. In the 1960s, Roly’s daughter Aggie helps her Aunt Loretta prepare for an unfair voter-registration test and raise money for a poll tax.
