Race to the Sun

Nizhoni Begay, a Diné seventh grader, can see monsters disguised as ordinary people. She discovers that Mr. Charles, the head of an oil company, intends to capture her younger brother Mac because he can control water. To stop him, Nizhoni travels with Mac and their friend Davery. Guided by Mr. Yazzi, a toy horned toad brought to life, they seek knowledge and gifts that can help them fight the monsters. Their journey takes them to Spider Woman and then toward the Sun’s home for weapons.
