Class Act

In this sequel to New Kid, Jordan Banks begins a second year at Riverdale Academy Day School alongside his friends Drew and Liam. Jordan and Drew are both Black, but Drew’s darker skin affects how he is treated at school. As the three boys’ friendship develops, Drew becomes increasingly uncomfortable with the contrast between Liam’s wealthy family and his own circumstances. Liam regularly invites the others home without considering visits to their neighborhoods, a pattern that the friends eventually challenge.
