An Impossible Thing to Say

In Tucson in 2001, Iranian American teen Omid is shy and uncertain at his private high school. He connects with Emily, a new student, and they encourage each other to audition for A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Cast as Bottom, Omid is excited about the role while wishing he had been chosen to play Emily’s character’s lover. He also gets to know grandparents who have recently emigrated from Iran, practicing Farsi and learning about the oppression they experienced there because of their Baha’i faith.
