First-Y ear Orientation

First-Year Orientation is an anthology of linked short stories set during the first days at fictional Rolland College. Its characters arrive with different backgrounds, identities, interests, and plans as they meet roommates, attend orientation activities, join groups, and form friendships or relationships. Most stories are realistic, while some shift into paranormal fantasy or science fiction. Across the collection, students navigate parents, parties, campus life, work, financial aid, and the uncertainty of starting college.
