You Should See Me in a Crown

High school senior Liz Lighty enters the race for prom queen despite being uncomfortable with the attention. She needs the winner’s ten-thousand-dollar scholarship after losing the music scholarship she expected to use for college. The contest runs for weeks through challenges that reward points and popularity. Liz is one of few Black students at her Indiana school and is out only to close friends. As a friend manages her campaign, Liz develops feelings for fellow candidate Mack, whose expectations differ from hers.
