Viola Reyes finds escape in the online game Twelfth Knight, where she plays as Cesario, a highly accomplished player. At school, she and Jack Orsino serve on student council, though Vi carries much of its work. After an injury leaves Jack homebound, he enters the game and joins Cesario on a quest. When he learns the player attends his school, Vi claims Cesario is her twin brother, Bash. Offline, a bargain over student-council work draws Vi and Jack closer.
