The Robber Girl

Raised by robbers from the age of six, a girl has accepted Gentleman Jack’s account of her abandoned childhood. After he is arrested during a stagecoach robbery, she is brought to Blue Rose to live with a judge and his wife, who are grieving two children lost to smallpox. Asked to choose a name, she becomes Starling. In the judge’s attic, a remarkable dollhouse holds mother and father dolls who ask her to find three things: a dog, its collar, and a baby.
