That Thing about Bollywood

Eleven-year-old Indian American Sonali keeps many feelings to herself, especially her worries about the tension between her parents. Then her life starts becoming a Bollywood musical. People around her break into song and dance, rooms turn into richly colored sets, and familiar people appear in Bollywood-like forms, though others act as if nothing unusual is happening. Sonali and her Pakistani American best friend Zara love Bollywood, but that does not explain these transformations. When Sonali sings and dances, her words reveal feelings about her family and changing friendship.
