Temple Alley Summer

In Masuda, Japan, Kazu sees a girl in white leave his family’s altar room at night. The next day, his classmates behave as if Akari has always been part of their class. Kazu learns that his home once stood on the site of a return-to-life temple and that his family protects a statuette believed to restore the dead to life. After discovering that Akari died as a child forty years earlier, Kazu becomes her friend. When a neighbor steals the statuette, Kazu tries to help Akari use her remaining time to finish a story she began before she died.
