Spy Runner
Eugene Yelchin
In 1953 Tucson, twelve-year-old Jake is swept up in the Red Scare. His father never returned from World War II and is thought to be imprisoned in Russia. When Jake’s mother boards a Russian man named Shubin, Jake suspects him of spying on plans at a nearby Air Force base. A gold-toothed stranger, a black car, and visits from FBI agents heighten his suspicions. Jake and his friend use their favorite spy comic as a guide, leading Jake into increasingly dangerous actions.
