Cardinals Red and Lulu live in an enormous evergreen beside a family’s home. Each winter, the family decorates the tree with lights and sings about it. One fall, Red returns with food to discover that the tree has been cut down and carried away with Lulu still inside. He tries to follow the truck but reaches a large city alone. Hearing the family’s familiar song, Red follows it to Rockefeller Center, where the evergreen is on display and Lulu waits on their favorite branch.
