Trevor has long shared a love of music with his father, a DJ. After his parents separate and his dad moves away, however, Trevor struggles to feel connected during their regular visits. With encouragement from his mother, he tells his dad what he is feeling through music. In doing so, Trevor shows that he values the songs they have shared while also forming tastes and interests of his own. The story follows a Black father and son as they work to reconnect.
