This picture-book biography follows Corita Kent, born Frances Elizabeth Kent, from her decision to become the Catholic nun Sister Corita through her work as an artist, designer, and educator. Teaching at Immaculate Heart College, she developed an approach she called “plork,” joining play and work. She found inspiration in ordinary signs and objects and encouraged students to look closely at their surroundings. Her colorful prints addressed justice, peace, and unity; after leaving her vows, she continued making art for the rest of her life.
