Hear My Voice / Escucha mi voz: The Testimonies of Children Detained at the Southern Border of the United States

This bilingual Spanish-English book presents testimonies from sixty-one children, ages five to seventeen, who experienced detention at the southern U.S. border. The children came from five countries, and each spread includes excerpts from first-person accounts translated from languages including Spanish, Mam, Portuguese, Urdu, and K’iche’. Their statements describe family separation and overcrowded, cold, dirty conditions at a 2019 Border Patrol station in Clint, Texas, where children were hungry, exhausted, and sometimes denied medical care. Illustrations by Latinx artists accompany the accounts.
