Legendborn

Tracy Deonn’s fantasy novel follows Bree, a sixteen-year-old Black student grieving her mother’s death. At UNC–Chapel Hill, where her mother studied, Bree encounters the Order of the Roundtable, a hidden group that battles Shadowborn. After a magic-user’s attempt to erase her memory fails, she connects the event to the night her mother died. Seeking answers, Bree joins the Order as a Page and learns that Rootcraft, a form of African American magic, runs in her family.
