Miss Meteor

In Meteor, Texas, the annual Miss Meteor contest shapes the choices of Lita Perez and Chicky Quintanilla. Lita once hoped to win, but stopped after classmates called her an alien. Chicky enters partly to challenge Kendra Kendall’s assumption that the title belongs to her, while confronting Kendra’s taunts about sexuality. When Lita’s body begins reverting to the material of stars, she decides to compete and asks Chicky, once her best friend, for help. Their campaign includes support from Kendra’s transgender brother, Cole.
