Goldfish on Vacation
Sally Lloyd-Jones, illustrated by Leo Espinosa
Three children living in a small apartment care for goldfish named Barracuda, Patch, and Fiss. A neglected park fountain is cleaned and filled after a notice invites local fish to spend the summer there. Children bring bowls of goldfish, and the fountain becomes a place where children and adults visit, watch the fish, and exchange stories. When summer ends, the fish return to their bowls. The tale draws on the history of Hamilton Fountain in New York City.
