Elephant’s Big Solo
Sarah Kurpiel
Elephant loves music class because she can blend in, but a class recital requires every student to perform a solo. Her smaller classmates do not understand why the prospect frightens her. Elephant helps them prepare their own performances while learning her part at home and writing a song. At rehearsal, she panics when it is time to play. As she tries to leave, her classmates offer to perform with her. Elephant teaches them her song, and the class presents it together at the recital.
