Code Red

After an injury ends the gymnastics career that had defined her, Eden struggles to find her place at middle school. She is embarrassed when classmates make jokes about her mother’s menstrual-products company, then is suspended after a hallway confrontation with a bully. Mirabel, a classmate who defended Eden, introduces her to Casa Esperanza, a food bank and community resource center. There Eden encounters poverty, homelessness, and the need for accessible menstrual products, while their new friendship expands to include Mirabel’s family and community activists.
