This bilingual board book explores the idea of being close through a young Latinx girl’s observations around her home and neighborhood. In Spanish and English, she identifies things located near one another: daisies beside an apple tree, her bedroom near the kitchen, and a friend close by at a neighbor’s house. The story moves from rooms inside her home to outdoor spaces and then to the nearby home of a friend. Its repeated comparisons use familiar objects, places, and relationships to introduce the concept of proximity in two languages.
