Can You See Me?

Tally is anxious about beginning middle school, even though her best friend Layla will be there. She worries about getting lost, becoming overwhelmed, and not knowing the social rules. Layla alone knows that Tally is autistic. Tally works hard to fit in, a draining effort made more difficult by Luke, a classmate who treats her badly. At home, her parents support her but can be exasperated, and her older sister Nell is sometimes frustrated. Third-person narration is interspersed with diary entries written in Tally’s voice.
