Your Place in the Universe

Beginning with four eight-year-olds looking through a telescope, this picture book measures people against increasingly larger things: an ostrich, giraffe, redwoods, skyscrapers, and mountains. It then shifts from height to distance, moving outward through space to the Milky Way, Andromeda, clusters of galaxies, and the universe. Through these comparisons, it introduces relative size, distance, and basic astronomy and physics, using the children as a point of reference.
