Wondrous Rex
Patricia MacLachlan
Grace spends much of her time with Aunt Lily, a writer, while her busy parents are occupied elsewhere. She has picked up unusual words from Lily and listened to Lily’s writing group, yet does not see herself as a writer. Lily is blocked on her own work and hires Rex, a magician’s dog, as an assistant. Rex cannot speak, but he reads and types, and his presence helps Lily return to writing while encouraging Grace to try writing herself.
