Turtle Walk
Matt Phelan, illustrated by Matt Phelan
Over a year, a family of four turtles leaves its home near a pond, explores the surrounding area, and returns. A repeated refrain marks their deliberately slow progress and recurring question about whether they have arrived. Their route passes spring wildflowers, summer sunshine and a playground, then an autumn orchard and pumpkin patch. In winter, the journey concludes with a fast descent down a snowy hill, changing the pace of the turtles’ walk for the finale.
