Green on Green
Dianne White
A family’s year unfolds through a series of seasonal scenes and rhyming three-line verses. Each season emphasizes only a few colors, with every verse ending on a distinct shade or form of green. Watercolor, gouache, and colored-pencil illustrations follow the brown-skinned, blue-eyed family as the weather and landscape change. Time also brings a major transition at home: the mother’s pregnancy leads to the arrival of a new baby near the end of the year.
