The View from the Very Best House in Town

Meera Trehan

Autistic best friends Sam and Asha face a change when Sam begins seventh grade at Castleton Academy. There, Sam is bullied until popular student Prestyn takes an interest in him and invites him to Donnybrooke, her mansion. Asha is upset and jealous: Donnybrooke is her favorite building, but she has been barred from it since an earlier incident at Prestyn’s birthday party. The story alternates among Asha, Sam, and the house itself. Sam does not recognize Prestyn’s cruel tricks, while Asha remains worried about him. After one prank puts Sam in danger, he turns to Asha, whom he trusts.
