After a bad fall leaves Grandpa in the hospital, he longs to return to the Stockholm archipelago home he shared with his late wife. His grandson Gottfried Junior suggests that they run away together and carefully prepares their escape, including food Grandpa likes and a ride from a butcher’s assistant. At the old house, Grandpa retrieves a final jar of homemade lingonberry jam and reflects on his life with his wife. Gottfried accompanies him with patience and acceptance.
