High school junior Felix Ma is trying to show his parents that he can follow through after leaving piano lessons and competitive ping-pong. Pressured by college applications and an admissions coach, he starts a movie club around his love of old films. Felix has struggled to make a close friend since his family moved to Long Island. At a ping-pong tournament, he reconnects with Cassie Chow, a former piano-competition rival who also faces parental expectations. The club brings Felix together with Gaspard as they begin making a film featuring Cassie.
