The (Other) F Word: A Celebration of the Fat & Fierce

This collection gathers thirty pieces of essays, art, letters to younger selves, poetry, and prose from contributors who identify as fat. The writers and artists come from varied racial and economic backgrounds, genders and sexualities, and disability experiences. Some pieces describe difficult experiences from childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood alongside personal paths toward accepting and celebrating their bodies. Others challenge myths, stereotypes, and popular-culture norms that portray fat people as objects of ridicule or as disposable. Across the collection, contributors affirm the value and beauty of different bodies while writing from literature, fashion, art, social criticism, and other fields.
