The Light in Hidden Places

During Germany’s occupation of Poland, Catholic teenager Stefania works for the Jewish Diamant family in Przemyśl and becomes engaged in secret to their son Izio. After the family is forced into the ghetto, Stefania looks after her six-year-old sister Helena and carries food to the Diamants. When Izio dies in a labor camp, she and his younger brother Max plan an escape for the remaining family members and others. Stefania and Helena conceal thirteen people in a series of increasingly dangerous places, even as nurses living nearby receive visits from their SS boyfriends.
