Siblings Putuguq and Kublu are on the ice when their grandfather stops on his snowmobile and tells them about the Qalupalik, a creature said to live beneath the sea ice. Kublu dismisses the tale, but Putuguq is uneasy. Putuguq, Kublu, and his small dog Lulu later set out as Kublu goes to meet her friend Lisa. Strange footprints appear near the shore, Lisa is missing, and the story leaves a lingering mystery in their Inuit village.
