Pumpkin

Waylon Brewer, called Pumpkin because of his vivid red hair, is a fat, gay teenager living in Clover City. He expects life to change after graduation, when he and his lesbian twin sister, Clementine, plan to attend community college in Austin. Until then, Pumpkin spends time with his supportive family and watches a drag-competition program. When a contestant he identifies with loses, he films himself trying drag at home, considering whether to enter a future competition. The recording spreads around school instead, and classmates nominate him for Prom Queen as a joke. Clementine’s girlfriend, Hannah Perez, is also nominated, for King.
