Pride

Zuri Benitez is the second oldest of five sisters in a Dominican-Haitian-American family living in Bushwick. When the wealthy Darcy family moves into a renovated brownstone across from their apartment building, Zuri’s sister Janae develops a relationship with Ainsley Darcy. Zuri, however, sees Darius Darcy as arrogant and distant. Spending time with him makes her reconsider that judgment, even as Warren, a charming boy from the neighborhood, tells her a story that appears to confirm her first impression. The book reimagines characters and plot from Pride and Prejudice in a contemporary setting.
