High school senior Becca Aldaine has been raised in a doomsday-prepper community led by her father. The adults have decided she will marry Roy Kang after graduation, but Becca secretly works toward college scholarships so she can leave. When her father is badly injured, Becca’s mother becomes the community’s leader and imposes stricter rules, including training younger children. Becca watches her ten-year-old sister Katie begin to accept the group’s fears and beliefs. As family expectations tighten, Becca’s plans for independence become more urgent.
