More Than Words: So Many Ways to Say What We Mean

In an elementary-school classroom, Nathan and his classmates communicate in many different ways. Nathan says little but listens closely, while peers use voices, an alphabet board, a Brailler, text-to-speech technology, facial expressions, gestures, and other cues. The book considers both expressing and receiving communication. Although Nathan is silent, his classmates understand his invitation to play and his offer of friendship.
