Maxine

Maxine is born into a white superhero family wearing a black mask over her eyes. Her red-haired parents, older brother, grandparents, and later a superhero classmate are part of her world. She receives a cape and boots, learns to fly soon after she can walk, and starts school four years early. At school, Maxine becomes interested in the clothes worn by children without superhero powers. Wanting an ordinary life, she asks for jeans and T-shirts. Her family is initially dismayed but gradually accepts what Maxine wants.
