Mango, Abuela, and Me

Mia’s abuela moves in with her family, but Mia speaks little Spanish and Abuela speaks little English. Sharing a room and spending time together initially leaves them with much silence. Mia begins labeling household objects and teaching English words, while Abuela teaches Mia Spanish. A parrot reminds Abuela of one she had at home, and their relationship continues to grow until Abuela reads to Mia and tells stories about Abuelo.
