Man Made Monsters

Andrea L. Rogers

This illustrated collection contains eighteen horror stories about a Cherokee family across multiple generations. The stories span two centuries, beginning in 1839 and extending to 2039, and combine supernatural figures with violence and displacement rooted in history. Its opening story follows Ama Wilson and her family as they flee with other Tsalagi people toward Indian Territory while Texas Rangers pursue them. After Ama’s brother becomes ill, the family stops and is attacked by a stranger, who kills Ama’s mother and turns Ama into a vampire. Other stories bring the family into contact with vampires, zombies, and additional monsters.
