Man o’ War

River McIntyre is a multiracial, Arab American trans teen and a competitive swimmer in a small Ohio town. The town is landlocked and known for a deteriorating marine-life theme park. Across high school and the beginning of college, River comes to understand their gender identity while trying to stay afloat in a difficult environment. The novel follows a coming-of-age process rooted in sport, place, and self-discovery.
