How to Knit a Monster
Annemarie Van Haeringen, illustrated by Annemarie Van Haeringen
Greta, a goat skilled at knitting, makes socks and even small knitted goats. After Mrs. Sheep criticizes her technique, Greta loses concentration and accidentally knits a wolf. The wolf chases away the small goats and eats Mrs. Sheep. Greta hides and quickly knits a tiger, which eats the wolf but then threatens her. She responds by creating a monster that can defeat the tiger, keeping it under control by leaving its final stitches uncast. Greta then unravels the monster, tiger, and wolf, using knitting to resolve the escalating danger.
