Henry the Boy

Henry uses sticker-covered forearm crutches and imagines himself as elegant as a heron. At school, classmates compare him to a robot and a chicken, leaving him distressed. When a crutch slips and Henry falls, his friend Joel helps him up, shares a toy dinosaur, and spends time with him at recess and afterward. With Joel’s encouragement, Henry finds confidence in a story he tells about himself: not a heron, chicken, or robot, but Henry the boy.
