Aaron does not want to attend his family reunion. He would rather play video games, and his reluctance continues through packing, the car ride, and meeting relatives he does not know. Gradually, he begins spending time with his cousins and enjoys seeing PopPop, who gives him money. He joins the food, dancing, and time with aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins. By the reunion’s end, Aaron is already anticipating the following year’s gathering, which also includes matching shirts and a Sunday church service.
