Don’t Date Rosa Santos

High school senior Rosa Santos has grown up with stories of her family’s escape from Cuba and losses at sea. Believing that a curse follows her family, she avoids the water but longs to visit the island her grandmother fled. When development threatens her town’s spring festival, Rosa joins others in her predominantly Latinx community to protect it. She also meets Alex, a sailor she finds increasingly hard to resist, even as his connection to the sea unsettles her.
