Counting Creatures

This interactive counting book begins with a bat and one baby, then introduces animal families with increasing numbers of young. Readers meet lambs, leopard cubs, wild-dog pups, owlets, piglets, turkey poults, caterpillars, tadpoles, and many spiderlings. Brief patterned text and rhyming lines accompany the counts, while die-cuts and lift-the-flap pages reveal the babies after each mother appears. A later search-and-find activity asks readers to look again for spiderlings across the spreads.
