Buster and the Baby
Amy Hest, illustrated by Polly Dunbar
Buster, a scruffy white dog, hides from an active toddler in places around a little red house: under a table, behind an armchair, and behind a large teddy bear. The toddler finds him each time, and their searching and hiding continues through the day. Buster’s anticipation is shown by the thumping of his heart as he waits. Their game of hide-and-seek includes a reversal and ends as the day draws to a close, with a cozy conclusion for the baby and puppy.
