Who Am I?

A playful rabbit repeatedly hides behind familiar animals and announces that he is one of them. He imitates a frog, rooster, tiger, and sheep by using the sounds associated with each animal, but his long ears remain visible above his hiding place. The other animals—and the children looking at the pages—can therefore recognize that his claims are not true. The rabbit’s repeated attempts create a humorous guessing game in which young readers can respond before he is corrected. His disguises invite children to notice visual clues, compare animal identities, and enjoy the contrast between what he says and what they can plainly see.
