This nonfiction story follows brothers Nadeem Shehzad and Mohammad Saud, who grow up in Delhi watching black kites overhead. During kite-flying season, the birds are injured by glass-coated strings called manja, and worsening smog brings dehydration and breathing problems. After caring for an injured kite at home, the brothers learn how to treat damaged wings, bones, muscles, and tendons. They build rooftop aviaries and establish a wildlife rehabilitation center for black kites.
