We Are the Scrappy Ones

This book portrays children with disabilities experiencing the world in many different ways. It recognizes that they may have to navigate spaces not designed to include them, and that adapting can be tiring. The children shown have visible and invisible disabilities and use a range of adaptive, mobility, and medical devices. Alongside challenges, the book affirms disabled children’s minds and bodies, creativity, resourcefulness, and need for rest.
